Autumn wedding photography

I love a bit of Autumn wedding photography. Autumn is one of my favourite’s to shoot. (It’s when Laura and I got married!). The light is much softer than in the summer, but also lasts longer than during winter time.

The low sun means no harsh shadows on peoples face or squinting when outside. Plus as it’s the UK, no expects it to be warm and sunny, so if it turns out nice on the day (which it often does in Autumn), then it’s an added bonus! Plus you get the amazing orange / yellows and browns of the trees, beautiful!

I’ve photographed so many autumn weddings over the years. I always shoot making use of the available light (I don’t use flashguns). Some photographers would be concerned by the lack of light, but I love to embrace it, taking my ISO up to higher levels to capture the story naturally without an obtrusive flash firing every few seconds.
