Gareth is originally from the UK, whilst Sonica is from Chicago. 5 years ago Gareth moved over to the States and the guys met amidst the hustle of the Volleyball court! Fast forward to present day, and Sonica and Gareth live together in Chicago but were due to celebrate their marriage in the UK with friends and family here. With the wonders of modern technology I was able to have several meetings with the couple via Skype to discuss the plans for the big day and, after lots of online chatting, it was great to meet them in person this August 🙂
This Summer saw me traveling all over the UK. I really enjoy visiting new wedding venues and Manor by the Lake in Cheltenham was no exception! I started the morning capturing Gareth and his Best man Greg getting ready at a hotel near to the venue (and sharing a couple of Morgans Spiced Rum and Coke!) before heading over to join Sonica and her family at the Manor by the Lake, along with the talented Rupert Ward Lewis wedding films.
A beautiful intimate ceremony took place at the Manor by the Lake, and the English grey clouds that loomed in the morning disappeared, giving everyone the opportunity to enjoy drinks and canapés outside! I love the energy of Asian weddings, and the fun and energy was clear to see amongst both Sonica, Gareth and all their guests! After a a stunning wedding breakfast of assorted curries (which Rupert and myself were lucky enough to sample!) it was time for the real party to start, and these families certainly know how to party to the Bhangra/disco beats!
Some of my favourite documentary wedding photography of the day below…
If you are getting married at the Manor by the Lake and would like to discuss me documenting your day, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
