Cors y Gedol Hall is a stunning Elizabethan Manor house situated in North Wales, and is the perfect wedding venue. Just a short drive from Barmouth, the hall is situated at the foot of Moelfre in the Rhinog mountain range. With open fires, and stunning grounds, its a great wedding venue all year around. Bride and Grooms can stay at the cottage just a few hundred meters away, and there is also accommodation on site for guests.
When Dan and Debbie told me where they were getting married, and wanted me to capture their day I couldn’t wait. They were married in the stunning Welsh town of Barmouth, with a reception at the impressive Cors y Gedol Hall – so even if the weather was “typically Welsh” it would provide an excellent backdrop! As it turns out, the weather was magnificent!
Debbie and her bridesmaids prepared for the day at a quaint stone cottage set in lovely countryside. This has been captured in some of the photos as the weather was so nice that Debbie had some of her hair done outside where the light was better for the hairdresser. Once ready, the girls made their way to St John’s Church in Barmouth where Dan and his guests were waiting. I had left the bridal preparations 30 minutes earlier to ensure that I captured some shots of, a relatively relaxed, Dan mingling with guests beforehand.
Dan and Debbie had organised an all-male Welsh choir to sing during the service, and as well as more traditional songs they surprised everyone with a moving version of “You’ll never Walk Alone” (Dan and Debbie are both Liverpool fans!).
After the ceremony, I jumped into a Camper Van (supplied by Cheshire Campire Hireth Dan and Debbie and headed to the beach for a short walk to get some relaxed portraits. We then headed to Cors y Gedol Hall via a picturesque small church overlooking the sea, where Debbie visited her grandmas grave to lay part of her specially designed bouquet – a very touching moment.
Dan and Debbie are friends of mine, so another special aspect to the day was that I got to stay until the end of the night! After catching some of the guests partying and getting a long exposure shot of the Hall under the starts, I put my camera down and took the opportunity to throw some shapes myself, although there is no photographic evidence of this 🙂
