Stock Farm Wedding – Katherine and Dave

I first met Dave when he and Katherine visited my office to chat about their wedding plans. He brought the best homemade brownies with him. I love Dave! Katherine I already knew was amazing from being a Bridesmaid at 2 weddings I’d shot in 2012 + 2014  (shout out to + Natalie / Alex +Katya / Luke!). I was immediately looking forward to their Stock Farm wedding…and the potential that more homemade baked treats may make an appearance on the day 😀.

Katherine got ready at her Mum’s house and I started the day shooting there, before heading to St Catherine’s Church in Didsbury for a gorgeous ceremony. Celebrations continued at Stock Farm, a lovely venue just 20 minutes from me, but not one that I had visited before.

I’m a reactive photographer, responding to moments as they unfold. I don’t plan what my wedding photos will look like, instead looking for the spontaneous and sometimes unexpected events that occur. In some instances these shots can occur when things don’t go exactly to plan on the ‘big day’. This was the case at Katherine and Dave’s wedding, when the wedding band were a couple of hours late due to traffic travelling from Scotland. However the super-relaxed couple didn’t bat an eyelid and their amazing friends and family soon had things moving along ….cue  singing bridesmaids and guests (talented by the way!) to get the party started with an improvised set!

Better still, Dave’s baking skills did make an appearance with a huge selection of homemade cakes for everyone to enjoy (The Guinness and chocolate cake was my fav!). Fuelled by all that sugar, and possibly some alcohol, the partying went on late into the night.

Some of my favourite storytelling images below. Extra points if you can spot a framed photo from Katya + Luke’s wedding making an appearance on the dance floor! None of the below images are staged, I nearly left a couple out because they could look set up, but I promise you they are not, these guys are just perfect together!

“They are amazing. What we hoped for and even more. Now we’ve got the predicament of which ones to put in an album and what to put up on the wall in our new house.”
