Mitton Hall Wedding: Ruth + Matt
“We absolutely love them! Everybody loves them! Weddings are so big and we knew that we would have missed so much that was going on so it was wonderful to see all the little moments that you had captured. We are already arguing about our favourites! First argument as a married couple!”
I first met Matt and Ruth to chat about their wedding on the 8th May 2013. I remember the day well as it was a sad day indeed (apart from the meeting of course!) – the date Sir Alex Ferguson announced his retirement! Fast forward over 2 years, United are struggling to regain top form, but on the plus side Matt and Ruth were set to get married at the beautiful Mitton Hall in Lancashire.
I captured the guys and girls getting ready at the hall before heading over to a nearby Church for the ceremony. Capturing the ceremony is really important, and I ensure this is done without intruding on the proceedings. Whilst shooting a wedding recently the vicar instructed I was only allowed to take 2 shots during the wedding (bridal entrance and the first kiss), a real shame as sections are then missing from the story of the day. No such problems at Matt and Ruth’s wedding – the vicar was very accommodating, and she just let me do my thing.
Mitton hall is one of my favourite wedding venues and it was a pleasure to be back. Weddings are all about the people involved and Dave and the team at Mitton go the extra mile to make everyone at ease, fist bumps from Dave are always sought after 🙂 . When we arrived back from the Church, the morning rain cleared in time for everyone to enjoy the Ribble Valley views on the terrace, relaxed drinks and canapés before the speeches and evening partying!
It was a real pleasure to get to know Ruth, Matt and their friends and family – thanks so much for having me along. Some of my favourite storytelling images of the day below.
