The Tythe Barn, Launton wedding: Maria and Tim
Back in summer 2021, I headed to Oxfordshire for the Tythe Barn, Launton wedding of Maria and Tim! Set on the edge of the Cotswolds, it’s a beautiful setting, and looked stunning on this summers day.
The team at the barn were so welcoming, and I felt right at home as I started to document the day. Maria and all her bridesmaids are dancers, and they were certainly ready for a party from the start of the day. Whilst the girls were getting ready and dancing away in “the Nook”, Tim and his groomsmen welcomed guests at the barn. Luckily I had been told beforehand that Tim had an identical twin brother, as I soon realised he did not have the superpower to be in two places at once!
A short walk to the beautiful ceremony in the barn was followed by confetti and drinks in the gardens, before the amazing Roamantics band, roamed inside and out, creating one heck of a party atmosphere.
I often get asked if anything goes wrong with my kit etc at weddings, it rarely does. However on this day I caused myself a bit of a problem. During the morning I went to fetch a drink from the boot of my car, and locked my car keys inside! Luckily, all my photography gear was in the barn, but I had the slight issue of how to travel the 145 miles home at the end of the night! I called the RAC to attend during the wedding breakfast, however no luck getting the keys retrieved or unlocking the car. Later in the day, the helpful staff at the barn lent me a glass window hammer, and I had to take the unfortunate option of smashing the rear window, climbing into the boot and retrieving my car keys! The make shift clear plastic bag window I fashioned did not hold up to the long motorway journey home however, but the fresh air kept me awake!
Despite smashing my own car window, I’ll remember this day for the non stop party atmosphere! Maria and Tim have been together since high school and it was so amazing to see how close they are and how they loved every second of the day. A few of my favourite documentary story telling images below…
