Louise + Ben

Planning a wedding can be time consuming, and sometimes a little stressful. Planning a wedding, whilst arranging to emigrate to Sri Lanka is quite an achievement in my eyes – and something Louise and Ben appeared to take in their stride!

I’ve had the pleasure of capturing a number of weddings at Samlesbury Hall, and it is is one of my favourite wedding venues in Lancashire. The wedding of Louise and Ben at the end of May coincided with the start of the UK’s heatwave, and was the first hot sunny wedding of many – perfect weather for the day, but sometimes quite challenging light wise for the photographer.

The preparations for the day started at Louise’s parents house, where Louise was getting ready for the day alongside her bridesmaids. I was greeted with a lovely chilled atmosphere upon arriving, and instantly began to document the day unobtrusively.  The ceremony took place at St Johns in Broughton. After a perfect ceremony, Louise and Ben were waved off by all the guests, as they headed to Samlesbury Hall with the roof down on their Rolls Royce 🙂

All the guests enjoyed bubbles and canapés on the lawn in the sunshine, and Louise and Ben mingled and relaxed, enjoying spending time with close family and friends. Howard, the long serving toastmaster at Samlesbury was only days away from retirement, and he did a fantastic job of ensuring the day ran smoothly, and provided some great history of the Hall before the speeches. All three speeches were amazing, with the best man quizzing some of Ben’s pupils at school (he is a passionate History teacher) for their opinions!

As usual, I stayed until the partying began. A great day to capture, I wish Louise and Ben all the best with their new lives in Sri Lanka!
