I got to know Karen and Tom well before their big day. We spent most of the time talking about Netflix shows we were addicted to (and of course, chatting about their big day!). I was really looking forward to their wedding, and it was to be at the stunning Hoghton Tower in Lancashire.
Karen was getting ready in the morning at The Millstone at Mellor. When I arrived at the preparations the girls from Flossy and Leigh were underway with hair and makeup (and great they were too!). Karen, the mums and bridesmaids were all enjoying the day, and the party atmosphere was already evident 🙂
Along with his best man, ushers and parents, Tom called into the Millstone for a quick pint, so I took the opportunity to capture this part of the day too. Shortly after we all headed to Hoghton Tower, where Jason and Olivia from Flower Design had ensured the venue looked stunning.
A beautiful relaxed ceremony proceeded a sunshine filled reception in the tower courtyard (the sun does shine in Lancashire!), where I mingled with guests documenting the atmosphere. Tom and Karen are huge music fans and the amazing band “The Fraudsters” performed in the evening and really got the party rocking! It seems the homemade sloe Gin consumed during the meal got everyone in a lively mood!
It was a privilege to be part of such a great day, some of my favourite images…
In the lead up to Karen and Tom’s big day, we got chatting about the TV show Arrested Development. Tom and his brothers are huge fans, and we came upon the idea of a “chicken dance” group shot of the guys (watch this clip if you don’t know what I’m talking about)
Along comes the big day, and in the evening, after a few beers, the guys get together to do the group chicken dance….however, unknown to Tom a group plan had been hatched to let him do it solo. My favourite set of group shots ever….

Great stuff as ever Adam! No idea what they are doing in those group shots though 😉

Beautiful as always Adam! Top gunning sir…
Documentary wedding photography doesn’t get much better than this mate. I cracked up at the dropped glass!
Ha ha – Good spot Matt!
Lovely work mate, great documentary work in there, love the layering in that first frame! Looks like it was a fun day!
Cheers Alexis – it really was a great day 🙂
Your work depresses me. It’s so damn good! So beautifully framed.
Ha ha – thanks Lorenzo 🙂
I love the story telling. Such a great energy.
Thanks Laura 🙂
I love this wedding (and I love that dress). I think the candid coverage during the cocktail and reception may be my favorite part of this wedding though 🙂 Excellent journalistic feel!
Outstanding coverage! I love your composition, use of light, and the treatment of your photos. The bride & her father coming around the corner of the isle made me smile.
Love the tones on your black and whites. Really great set, love the one of the guys during he speeches laughing with the other guy burying his head into his back.
What a stunning bride, venue, dress, oh and all of the photos are genius! <3
Thanks for the kind comments 🙂
Holy smokes, such a lovely wedding Karen and Tom! I love the sweet little moments you caught, you seriously were everywhere. Great job Adam!
Thanks Sam 🙂
You really caught some great moments in there! Solid storytelling.
Lovely storytelling and emotion. Wonderful work.
This whole wedding is amazing and so wonderfully captured, but the moment that stuck with me through the whole post was the first look with the bride and her father. That expression on his face… They’ll enjoy that photo for decades to come. 🙂
Thanks Kim, thats one of my favourite photographs too 🙂
I love your sense of storytelling. Beautiful! That image of her dad seeing her? PRICELESS!
I love all of the emotion and laughter here. Great work Adam!
Thanks Shari and Steve 🙂
so many insane moments capture. great coverage.
I’m sure the couple will be over the moon with these shots, well done fella!
BWAHHAHAHAHA those chicken dance shots are AWESOME!!!
Super set of wedding photographs here Adam – there’s a real depth to your work, particularly your colour imagery, that has a brilliant sharpness and ‘punch’ to it. Love the shot of the bride and groom entering the reception – the expressions captured are superb – and it deserves it’s place on your main gallery!
ha ha – thanks, I love those ones 🙂
